About the Department

Aanandam is an innovative credited subject introduced in UoR to instil the importance of sharing and the joy of giving among students through community participation. The program encourages students to reconnect with nature, realign with their inner selves, and become responsible citizens who bring about positive societal changes through acts of goodness. Aanandam aims to transform students into empathetic and compassionate individuals who prioritize meaningful happiness derived from giving, sharing, and caring. By involving students in community service, Aanandam helps build a positive attitude and important skills such as leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making. The program emphasizes the development of social, ethical, mental, and academic competencies, making students not just good citizens but also good human beings. In today stressful academic environment, students often face challenges like high academic pressures, competitive environments, and personal issues, which can lead to feelings of burnout and social isolation. Aanandam addresses these challenges by fostering a sense of community and belonging, encouraging students to find joy in giving and caring for others. Through the course, students learn to manage stress, develop interpersonal skills, and cultivate a balanced lifestyle, preparing them for future personal and professional challenges.
